A Prayer for the Racing Mind

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

ROMANS 12:1-2 THE MESSAGE

Father God, I come before you with a racing mind.

My mind is not at ease, and I want it to be.

Speak your truth over my life, by the power of your Word.

When you say to fix my attention on You, help me do just that.

Change me from the inside out.

Help me see that by fixing my eyes upon you, you will mature my heart and renew my mind.

Let my mind rest in your presence, and let you work out all the details.

You know my needs, and my heart's desires, and I trust you to work things together for my good.

In your holy name,

Amen.

39 & Feeling Fine

39 & Feeling Fine Catchy? Isn’t it? I could totally bust out in a song, and perhaps a little dance, with that phrase. But am I really fine? It’s complex. Nuanced. Layered. How do I actually feel about

Welcoming Interruptions

The first week I started working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was asked to lead a team at work. My technology skills, intermediate-level at best, were required. I welcomed the challenge.
